Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion : Review
Written by: Swati on:
Before you start I must warn you that this is a photo heavy post. I have tried to capture the product as closely as possible and let me tell you that capturing stuff like this is so so tough! No matter how much you try it just does not show up properly!
Presenting, my first ever liquid highlighter that I have been in love with for over 2 years now. The Revlon Skinlights Illuminator. This was sadly discontinued in between but now it is back in a new avtar and I cannot wait to try the new one!
Coming to this, I have the colour Peach Light. When I first saw these at the counter I swatched the Skinlights powder and that was okay. It took me over 4 months to decide whether I should get the liquid one or not (since I have oily skin) but I am glad I bought it :)
It comes in a long sturdy tube with a pump dispenser. It is quite simple and nice though I have found that it is not very travel friendly. The illuminator has a very mild fragrance that I liked.
The product itself is not very thick nor very liquidy. Just somewhere in between and quite perfect for use. It spreads very easily and blends effortlessly. It does not feel heavy at all. And even though I have oily combination skin (and I should be techincally using powder higlighters), this works for me quite nicely (except on very hot humid days where I skip it). It has lots of very fine illuminating particles (shimmer?) that are not gritty and it stays for around 5 hours on me.
Even though it says that this can be mixed with your foundation/cream for an all over glow (I am not a fan of using it this way, just a bit overboard for me...but you could try)...I stick to using it only as a highlighter on the highpoints of my face (cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, just a bit on the browbone and on the collar bone sometimes). And it sure does give me this beautiful sheeny glow. No colour, just a soft diffused dewy glow which I absolutely love!! I haven't had any breakouts with this either. I can safely say that normal and dry skinned women would really like this. As far as oily skins go, this isn't the ideal thing to use but.. you could go try it at the counter, you never know...I happen to use it whenever the weather allows me to :D
Below are the swatches in different lights just to give you an idea :)

And here I am wearing it on my cheeks and a bit on the bridge of the nose, with just some blush and kajal since I was too lazy :P (Don't even ask how tough it was to click myself and to make sure it shows up! Please don't be too judge-y ok?).

Overall, it is a great product to try. And even though it is pricey, one tube will last you sooo long! It just gives a pretty glow which is very helpful for all special occasions ;)
Have you tried it? Which is your favourite highlighter?
